Background
The Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) relies on intensive, simulator-based training to prepare personnel for complex operational roles such as Air Combat Systems Operators. These sessions, often lasting several hours, require instructors to closely observe performance and manually document key behaviours and outcomes. As training demands increased, this process became time-intensive, inconsistent, and difficult to scale, placing added pressure on instructors and limiting overall training throughput.
The Challenge
Simulator-based training within the Royal Canadian Air Force is resource-intensive and difficult to scale. With limited simulator capacity, it is critical to maximize the value of each session. However, post-training documentation remains manual, time-consuming, and inconsistent, requiring instructors to spend significant time capturing and summarizing performance. This not only reduces efficiency but also constrains overall training throughput and impacts operational readiness.
Solution
Knockri partnered with the RCAF to develop an AI-assisted proprietary training assessment tool designed to enhance post-simulator evaluation without disrupting existing workflows. The solution captures, structures, and aligns performance insights directly with established assessment standards, enabling faster and more consistent evaluations.
The Impact
Knockri’s solution significantly reduced the manual workload and administrative burden placed on instructors during simulator training. By minimizing time spent on documentation and post-session evaluation, it helped lower the risk of fatigue and burnout during extended training sessions. At the same time, the structured and consistent capture of performance insights improved overall training productivity and throughput, ensuring that each simulator session delivers greater value across the training pipeline.
